Abstract
The presentation will review what we have learned about our levee systems and how well-intentioned public policies have contributed to the neglect of this critical life-safety infrastructure. It will also review current issues and challenges facing our levee systems, how our risks are increasing with time even as we spend millions to shore up rickety levees. It will then close on some of the recommendations made by the National Committee on Levee Safety for a National Levee Safety Program.
